This one-movement Tone-Poem for Flute and Piano, has its roots in the Western Isles of Scotland, where myself and my wife had a short break in 1999. This is a descriptive piece which depicts the power of nature between the Mountain (Ben Mor) and the mist which slowly engulfs it. It had its first performance in York (UK) in November 2000, by Richard Ingamells and Nick McNamara.
The
question posed by this piece is 'Which had the most power, the
Mountain, or the cloud?'
The winner was undoubtedly the mountain!!
This work is dedicated to Flautist Richard Ingamells.
